Camerawork and Framing

For my opening sequence I need to think carefully about how I chose my shot types, angles, movement and the composition I will use. This is because it will have an effect on the audience and the way in which it relates to the convention of my genre and the meaning and message of my opening sequences.

The shot types I chose will affect my framing, though I have planed out what type of shots I plan on using. When it comes to filming I might change what I have planed as I feel that the new shot will make a better impact on the audience, showing a better message. Knowing the way in which I plan to covey the film it is important and should help me to make a better film. Getting the shot type right will put across the effect that I want on the audience and will allow them to understand what type of film it is and what the plot is about.

The scripted opening angles that I will use are important to the way for the audience which will affect the audience view of the characters. I need the audience to have an empathy with Lilly, by the way in which I use the angles I will be able to achieve this by using a mixture of angles, such as a point of view shot for Lilly in which I will us a low angle to look up at Emma doing this hopefully will show her fear and how she is looked down on.

The movement is also an element that I need to think carefully about, being that it has an effect on the audience. In my planning I will use little movement, but if when editing and filming I find that it is to still then I will add in movement that will help to gave a better understanding of the characters and make the transitions follow better.

The composition for my filming is important as it will give information about the characters to the audience. Getting them to feel empathy towards Lilly and showing how she is the weaker character, being that she sits down were as Emma stands up this will show her to be more powerfully. This means that I need to get the compositions right to give a clear understanding of who the characters are and their relationship. The composition would also help in telling the plot to the audience.

These elements of camerawork and framing are important and I need to think about them carefully, this will make sure that my opening has a good impact on the audience, creating the right effect in my opening, clearly putting over the theme and genre of the film.
