I wanted to know what my audience felt overall about the film. Asking this question allowed to work out if marking this film appealed to the audience. From looking at the results I found that most people felt that the opening was good this showed that I could still improve on my opening to make in appeal and put over the plot better but with this no one I asked said that it was bad or could be better which puts that the opening did in same ways appeal to my audience and put over the ideas I wanted it to.
To work out if my product fit in with my chosen genre and the ways in which it used the conventions I asked about how my film compare to other teen films openings. Must people felt that it fitted in with other teen openings they had seen but had elements that were different. As 'it goes straight into the action and shows the characters that the film will be based around' I had chosen to develop the convention instead of challenging them which can seen by the results people given finding that most people felt that it was conventional 'You could tell it was a teen film as it was similar to other I have seen'. With this question I found that the feedback was manly positive and fit in with how I wanted the opening to come over to the audience.
To make sure that I had represent I had chosen for the characters was put across to the audience. I ask about their view on the characters. Most people understood the way in which I represent with the audience liking the 'nerd' and not liking the 'bully'. 'I felt sorry for the girl all by herself. The other person was horrible'. This was the overall view from the audience was that the character that I create were conventional and easy to identify. This is what I wanted from the opening to introduce the characters to the audience in away that they would be able to identify the characters well.
One of the important things about making a film is that people would go and see the film, this is why I asked them if they would go and see the film to know if the opening was a susses. 75% of the people I asked said yes, knowing this helps in the fact that my film was on the right lines. I asked why they would go and see the film. Most of the people that said was because they were interested in what was going to happen next 'interesting to fund out how the situation between the two girls turns out' knowing that the audience are appealed to my film because of the storyline, shows that with this I was able to create and plot line that would appeal to the teen audience. 'It is also suitable for teenagers who want a twist on a stereotypical teenage girl film'. Through with this 2 people said that they would not go and watch the film. The reasons that these people said that they would not go was because 'the film does not grab my attention and to me it does not look exciting' and 'because I'm not a fan of teen films' with this I know that I need to look at my storyline to try and make it appeal to a wider audience. Including elements that are more unusual to this genre to interested people that are unlikely to go and watch that genre.
To find out what my audience through about different elements of my film I asked them rate the different elements. Asking if they were good, alright, bad or not sure. The different elements of the film I asked about with the music, one person said that they did not like the music but the other said it was good- alright this means that I need to look closely at my chose in the music and look into the way in fits in with the genre, storyline and the audience. I then asked about the acting as when researching into my audience this was something that they said was imported when watching a film and if I was creating a professional film I would have used well know actors but with my film I found that most people said that the acting was alright which I felt was good things being that they were able to put over the type of character I was trying to create. Then I ask about the storyline as I felt that this was an important part in the part of the overall film for this the audience manly said that it was good which I thought showed the way in which the film was able to appeal to the audience and the way it plays an important part in the overall way the film appeal to the audience. Another element that I felt was important to their over success of the film is the location with this 5 saying it was good and 3 saying it was alright. I felt that the location I chose fitted in with the genre and conversions but with the location I chose of the main action could have been better because of the lighting making it hard to see the characters this was something that I need to think more carefully about when filming next time all choosing the location and the way the lighting will affect it. From looking into the different style of titles I felt that this was an important part of the film and the way it appealed to the audience with this I had the same results that I had for location. Showing that the titles fit well with the genre but that I need to look more carefully at that the way I used them making the titles appeal to the audience better. I felt that the way in the film look overall was important to the way the film appealed to the audience. For this six people said that it was good and 2 people said that it was alright. Knowing this meant that I was able to know that the look of my film fit with what the audience wanted.I wanted to work out what had when well in creating the opening so that when film next time I would be able to create the right effects. The most common thing that come up was the storyline say how it came over well, showed the two different characters and the theme of bullying. I was pleased with this as I had put a lot of work into looking into the different type of storyline I could use and the way in would appeal to the audience. The other thing people liked was the characters and how they were introduction into a dramatic situation. The characters are an important part of the film and being able to portray them correctly to the audience is important to the way the film appeals to them. The feedback also said that there was good use of camera angels this is important to the narrative of the story and the way audience understand what is happen.
With this thought I asked what could be improved in the opening, so that next time I will be able to create a better film that appeals to the audience. The mean thing that could be improve was with the sound of the characters being that you could not hear them well, this is an important thing that for next time I need to think about using a quite location and all into the editing software to find out away to make the voices louder. There also said that they could be more action. With this I need to think about the timing of the opening working out better the ratio to the action and credits. Along with this there was problems with lighting which created slights of the characters and I need to think about the lighting with the location, looking at the way in effects it.
