Typography for existing film titles

To help me work out which type of typography would be best to use for my film. I looked into different film titles and looked at how they fit in with their genre. Doing this helped me to work out how I wanted my title and credits to look, working out how to target my audience.

'UP' (2009)

The title used for 'up' use a bold front that makes it stand out. The style of the writing is simple, using this allows it to appal to a wider audience being that it does not tie it to one particle genre. This is also the same with the colours used being blue and white, using these pale colours fits in with the story line. The chose of colours also allows the film to appal to both male and female. The angle in which the title is placed allows the audience to gain an understanding being that it placed at angle that shows it going up matches in with the title. Looking at this help me think about the way I could get my style of writing to appal to a wider audience.

'(500) Days Of Summer' (2009)

The title for this film use '(500) Days of Summer' is done in a type style, using this style fits in with the style of the film and links the transitions together. This style fits in with the genre of the film and clearly shows the audience what type of film it’s going to be. Using this allows the audience to gain an idea on what the storyline is going to be about. Using a white colour allows the title to blend into the background, doing this show the audience what type of film it is and the way in which the story follows. This title style is different from the 'up' title being that they are aiming for an order audience which can be seen by the style used being that it will appal to their target audience.

'Elf' (2003)

The title for this film use colour that fit in with the theme and setting of the film, being green with is stereotypical a Christmas colour and using it clearly connotates to the audience that this will be what they film will be about. The colour and patter on the letters mach in with the coat that the elf is wearing. Using him as the letter ‘l’ lets the audience known what the films storyline is. The title helps to adverts the filming being that it tells the view about the film. The style of the letters is simple and appals to the audience of a young age, with the bold out line that makes the letters stand and enfussens the title.

'X-Men' (2000)

This title use more male colours being that this is the audience they are aiming it at. This is the same with the style of writing applying to the male audience using bold lettering which makes it stand out from the background like the way it clearly targets its audience and feel that this is something I need to doing when creating my titles. Though the title its self is small and dose not stand out from the background.
