Copy Right-Music
The type of music that I planed to use I would not be able use as it would be copy right and use the type of music that I planed and that would appeal to my audience would be illegal. Through if I was creating a real media film then I would be able to get in contract with artists to use their music. Along with this I would think about having them create a new song for the film. This would help market the film creating synergy and appeal the audience by using artists that are aimed at them such as Justin Bieber, doing this would create a wider audience and from audience research I found that the music chose effects the audience. But as I will not be able to use this type of music I will look online at different copy right free music sites for my music. Looking at different sites and finding music that will appeal to my audience and fit in with the plotline of the story, reflecting what is happening.

Opening Credits
I looked into the order that the credits should put in when doing the opening, so that I could make my opening realistic.
- The Name of the Studio that distributing the film or/and the produced it such as Universal, Buena Vista, Columbia ect.
- Then the name of the production company normally saying 'in association with' or studio name production.'
- Next putting in the producer name such as a film by...
- Then the Principal actors in the film
- The Name of the Film
- Next the Featured actors
- Then the Casting director
- Next putting in the information about the Music.
- Now putting in the production design/designer
- Then including set design, costume, hair, make-up artist, visual effects director- these one will depend on how long my opening is.
- Next putting in the Editor
- Followed by the Director of Photography.
- Producers, co-producer, executive producer ect.
- Then if based on a book or other medias such as a play.
- Next who the story is by.
- Writer or writers
- Then the Director
Typography for existing film titles
To help me work out which type of typography would be best to use for my film. I looked into different film titles and looked at how they fit in with their genre. Doing this helped me to work out how I wanted my title and credits to look, working out how to target my audience.

'UP' (2009)
The title used for 'up' use a bold front that makes it stand out. The style of the writing is simple, using this allows it to appal to a wider audience being that it does not tie it to one particle genre. This is also the same with the colours used being blue and white, using these pale colours fits in with the story line. The chose of colours also allows the film to appal to both male and female. The angle in which the title is placed allows the audience to gain an understanding being that it placed at angle that shows it going up matches in with the title. Looking at this help me think about the way I could get my style of writing to appal to a wider audience.
'(500) Days Of Summer' (2009)
The title for this film use '(500) Days of Summer' is done in a type style, using this style fits in with the style of the film and links the transitions together. This style fits in with the genre of the film and clearly shows the audience what type of film it’s going to be. Using this allows the audience to gain an idea on what the storyline is going to be about. Using a white colour allows the title to blend into the background, doing this show the audience what type of film it is and the way in which the story follows. This title style is different from the 'up' title being that they are aiming for an order audience which can be seen by the style used being that it will appal to their target audience.
'Elf' (2003)
The title for this film use colour that fit in with the theme and setting of the film, being green with is stereotypical a Christmas colour and using it clearly connotates to the audience that this will be what they film will be about. The colour and patter on the letters mach in with the coat that the elf is wearing. Using him as the letter ‘l’ lets the audience known what the films storyline is. The title helps to adverts the filming being that it tells the view about the film. The style of the letters is simple and appals to the audience of a young age, with the bold out line that makes the letters stand and enfussens the title.

'X-Men' (2000)
This title use more male colours being that this is the audience they are aiming it at. This is the same with the style of writing applying to the male audience using bold lettering which makes it stand out from the background like the way it clearly targets its audience and feel that this is something I need to doing when creating my titles. Though the title its self is small and dose not stand out from the background.

Editing-PowerDirector
For my editing I used PowerDirector editing programme as it matches in with the software on the camera, so useing this programme will be easier. I chose to use this software as I felt that it had an easy layout to it, which will allow me create the type of opening I wanted. This also helps as editing was an area which was not so strong. Using this programme allows me to upload musice to the film. I found that by use this software it will make my editing and opening look more realistic. I felt that by useing this programme I will be able to edit so that the meaning is clear to audience. I will also be able to use different shot transition and other effects to the film. This programme will allowe me to use sound that fits in with the images. With in this software I will be able to use titles appropriately.

Character Costume
From looking into costumes stereotypical for my character and create the right connotation for them. Getting the costume is important in putting over the right image of the character to the audience.
Here the costume used of Emma fit in with the stereotypical view of the character. For Emma I used drake clothes to show clearly to the audience the type of person she is. Using a red top also fits in with the view I want the audience to get of her, being the bully and so making her costume show this it will allow the audience to have empathy with Lilly.
The costume used for Lilly matched in with the stereotypical view of her fitting in with the genre and the way I what the audience to see her. Using colours that don't stand out, helping the audience to relate to her. I put in things like glasses and her bag which brings over her nerdy character more. By putting in things that fit in with the genre it will help the audience to given a better understanding of her.

Film Title
I came up with different names that could be used for my film. I wanted a name that would appeal to the audience, making them want to go and watch it. I also wanted the name to tell the audience about the film. The different names that I came up with for my film was:
- The Outsider- I felt that this name fitted in with the character Lilly, giving the audience information about the film.
- Hamilton High- This I felt fitted in with the convention of my genre
- Cast off- I liked this as it told the audience about Lilly, but felt that it put over the wrong image of the film, not fitting in with the genre.
- Abandon- This I felt was also able to show the audience about Lilly but did not fit in with the genre of my film.
- As good as it gets- I liked this as a name but through it might not appeal to my audience
- Relationship- This matched the conventions of the film and also informed about the plot line
- Lilly Gray - This I felt sounded right and would appeal to my audience
From this one title stood out from the other the was Lilly Gray, knowing that this is the title that would appeal to my audience, I will use it as my film name being that I feel that it will best suit the film and would appeal to my audience.

Weather
The weather plays an important part in my film because of my chosen location. This means that I need to look at what type of weather I will need. This though will also need to fit into my schedule and create the right atmosphere. The weather on Tuesday fits in with my schedule and also creates the right atmosphere being that it contradicts with what happens in the scene, doing this would create a bigger impart on the audience with what’s happening.

Filming
I have planed out the different elements that I need to think carefully about, this will help me in the way which I will frame and use of different shorts. Along with this I planed out the different areas of mise-en-scene, planning out how this will affect the audience and what style would best connote the message and theme of the opening scene to the audience. Carefully planning the props, location, costume, lighting to make sure that it has the right affect on the audience.
Now that I have planed the mise-en-scene I can now begin to film my opening scene. When filming my opening scene I wanted to make sure that I put over the right message to the audience, by using the creative technical skills that I have learnt. I want to make sure that I hold a steady shot; this means that I plan to use a tripod which I have booked to ensure that I am able to use it when I plan on filming. Using a tripod will also allow me to make sure that my shots are framed properly and make sure that I exclude elements that are not need. I want to achieve this as I feel that it will create the right shot and have a better affect on the audience showing them only what I feel is need to. Along with this I also plan on using different shot distances as this will create a better understanding of the theme of the storyline for the audience. Making sure that I get the right shot types is important in creating the right effect for the audience. Along with this I want to be able to create the same affect when editing so that I am able to put across the right message.

Lighting
The Lighting plays an important part in showing the convention of the genre and has an effect on the way the audience views and relates to the characters. For the lighting I plan to use ambient lighting in the opening as I feel that this will create the right effect in the opening. I chosen to use this as I felt that will make the scene more realistic, creating verisimilitude. The lighting also needs to reflect that the location of them being in the school which means that through I will be using ambient lighting their will also be high key lighting being that this is the type of lighting that can be found in the school. This type of lighting though will create positive atmosphere which is opposite to what is happening in the scene this will create a bigger imparted on this as the atmosphere created will make a safe place, showing school to be safe but the action will then show the conflicting atmosphere and how it is happening in daylight but on one is stopping it.
The lighting plays an important part in putting over the genre and the right effect on the audience. Using the right lighting is important in creating the atmosphere that fits in with the way the character is feeling, the location and what is happening. This is why I have carefully planed out the type of lighting I will use to put over the right atmosphere and creating the right effect on the audience.
Here is the typical layout of the lighting in uses in a film set. Knowing this will help me it workout what type of lighting I need to use and the way in which I position the actors to create the right lighting effect.

Costume
The costume which I use need to fit in with the character and show the audience the type of person there are. The costume I will use also needs to fit in with the conventions of the genre and appeal to the audience this means that the costume I use needs to fit in with the style that my audience are wearing. Though for some characters it needs not to fit in with the style to show her character.
For Lilly I have planned her costume to mach her character and clearly show to the audience who she is. I plan for her to wear plan clothes, uninteresting, just jeans, t-shirt, things that don’t bring attention to her. Along with this she will be wearing glasses with is conventional for this type of character. In her costume I will try and bring over to the audience the type of persons she is.
Where as Emma will be wearing the opposite clothes to show how she is a completely different person. Her costume will stand out more and also bring over her character. Wearing dark clothes showing her character in a conventional way, fitting her into the genre.
The costumes that the characters wear are important being that they will have an impart on the audience and the way in which the they view the character. Which means that I need to get the outfit right to put over the correct connotations of the character, making sure that they have empathy with Lilly and dislike towards Emma.
To help me come up with ideas of how I planed to create my costume and make them more realistic for the audience and fit in with the conversation of my chosen genre I looked at different teen films and the way in which they used costume to put over the characters.
This photo from 'Never been Kissed' shows the 'nerd' from the film. The costume use shows the era in which it was set. Knowing this backs up my research and how I plan to use my costume. Clearly showing the audience how the characters are and what they are like. Having the glass put over in a stereotypical way her charatcer. This is somehting I plan on using of Lilly and will allow the audience to know what type of charatcer she. I felt that this costume puts over a claerly to the audience who she is and is somthing in I hope to put over in the costumes I use.

I also look at the film 'Cinderella Story' looking at the costume that the charatcer Shelby wore. I found that this costume would fit in with the character Annie who is not in the opening.
The costumes used in 'Freaky Friday' would fit in with the character Emma at the opening of the film, being that she is wearing reds and blacks. These are the type of colours that I had planned for her to wear. Fitting in with the stereotypcal view of her charatcer, this will allow the aduience to gain a better understanding of her.
Location
The location plays an important part in the film and affects the genre. This means that I need to think carefully about where I am going to film my opening scene. The location I have planned to use is set within a school, this is as it follows the conventions of my chosen genre. Also by filming in a school it will appeal to my target audience, they will be able to relate to the location. This means that I will have to make sure that the location I use, looks real and creates verisimilitude, this is very important that I create this atmosphere other whys the audience will not believe in what they are watching.
In the scene with Lilly and Emma I plan on using an empty corridor, as I feel that this will show to the audience how Lilly has no friends, which is conventional of my genre and by using this location it will back this up and clearly show to the audience the type of character she is. For this corridor I will use typical things such as lockers ect, using this will make the scene come over more realistic.
I have chosen to keep the location simple, in one place as to keep focus on the characters and what is happening in the scene. I plan on using my location like this as I feel that it will fit in with my genre and appeal to the audience.
To help me work out were the best place to film would be, I took photos of different parts of the school which I plan to film at, this would help me to work out which would be the best location to set the opening scene.

This location I felt that it was too big and would not show how Lilly is alone. I liked this location as it had the right elements needed and would have bright lighting to create a realist location. Though becuse of the size of the loaction I didn't think that it will fit in with what I wanted to put across to the audience.
This location would allow good effect on lighting and looks like the stereotypical corridor.Using this would allow the audience to relate with the location and the plot. Through there is not a lot of room to move and film the different shots needed.
After looking at all the different location I could use, working out the way in which they would fit in with the genre and the effect they would have on the audience. I have chosen the last location being that I felt that it create the right place for Lilly and showing the how she is alone.
Once I had chosen my location I did a risk assement of the locations. Checking that it would be safe for the actors to use. I felt that there was no obvious risk to the actors but with this I took the phone numbers of the atcors, so that I could contraced thier faimly in case I need to do so. To lower the risks I also made sure that someone knew where we were, in case someing did go wrong.

Props
Props play an important part in portraying the genre and theme of the film; also telling the audience about the characters in the films. Having the right props makes a difference on the effect on the audience. This is why I need to think carefully about the type of props I use and to make sure that they fit in with the characters, location and the plot of the film.
The props that I need are meanly things to create verisimilitude with in the setting, using things such as back packs as this will show the location, but for each character the type of prop will need to be changed. With the back pack or school bag both Lilly and Emma will need to have one each, but they need to be different clearly showing the audience the type of character they are. With Lilly she will need a practical bag and one that dose not fit in with the style of the audience, showing to the target audience that she cares more about her work then what she looks like. Where as Emma’s bag would need to fit in more with my target audience, using things that fit in with the style of the target audience will make the film appeal to them, giving me a wider audience. Which means that when coming up with my props I need to think about the effect it will have on the audience and that it will appeal too them also creating the right image of the character. I will need to do this for each prop.
In the opening scene Lilly is sat doing her work, which means that I will need to clearly show this to the audience by having some work around her, this work will need to show the type of character she is, this means that I will need different folders, books and pieces of paper around her showing to the audience how her work is more important to her. Along with this she will have her pencil case with her, this will be full of different pens, pencils, rules ect. Putting all these different things in it will show the type of character she is. The style of the pencil case will match in with the bag and her character, this showing the audience the type of character she really is.
The character of Emma has fewer props in the scene but when filming I need to think about what props can be seen in the shot. Also when I am film I need to make sure that I have got all the props that I will need to have to make the scene appeal to the audience and create verisimilitude, helping the opening to flow better.

Camerawork and Framing
For my opening sequence I need to think carefully about how I chose my shot types, angles, movement and the composition I will use. This is because it will have an effect on the audience and the way in which it relates to the convention of my genre and the meaning and message of my opening sequences.
The shot types I chose will affect my framing, though I have planed out what type of shots I plan on using. When it comes to filming I might change what I have planed as I feel that the new shot will make a better impact on the audience, showing a better message. Knowing the way in which I plan to covey the film it is important and should help me to make a better film. Getting the shot type right will put across the effect that I want on the audience and will allow them to understand what type of film it is and what the plot is about.
The scripted opening angles that I will use are important to the way for the audience which will affect the audience view of the characters. I need the audience to have an empathy with Lilly, by the way in which I use the angles I will be able to achieve this by using a mixture of angles, such as a point of view shot for Lilly in which I will us a low angle to look up at Emma doing this hopefully will show her fear and how she is looked down on.
The movement is also an element that I need to think carefully about, being that it has an effect on the audience. In my planning I will use little movement, but if when editing and filming I find that it is to still then I will add in movement that will help to gave a better understanding of the characters and make the transitions follow better.
The composition for my filming is important as it will give information about the characters to the audience. Getting them to feel empathy towards Lilly and showing how she is the weaker character, being that she sits down were as Emma stands up this will show her to be more powerfully. This means that I need to get the compositions right to give a clear understanding of who the characters are and their relationship. The composition would also help in telling the plot to the audience.
These elements of camerawork and framing are important and I need to think about them carefully, this will make sure that my opening has a good impact on the audience, creating the right effect in my opening, clearly putting over the theme and genre of the film.

Level 4 Video Examples
Identifying what you need to do to achieve a Level 4 (A grade)
There is evidence of excellence in the creativity of the technical skills:
- Holding a shot steady where needed- using a tripod
- Framing a shot including and excluding elements as appropriate
- Using different shot distances as needed
- Shooting material appropriate to the task set
- Selecting mise-en-scene-colour, figure, lighting, objects and setting
- Editing so that meaning is clear to the audience
- Using different shot transition and other effects appropriately to the task
- Using sound with images and editing appropriately for the task
- Using titles appropriately
Looking at the example of how students have achieved Level 4 for your brief and identifying what they have done well.
The Opening to this film uses the technical areas well and puts over the meaning and theme to the audience clearly making them able to follow the plot of the film. The shots throughout the opening were steady which allowed the viewer to clearly see what was happening. The types of shots used matched in with what they are trying to put across being that the shot is kept steady means that the theme is clearly understood. The way in which the shots were framed allowed the viewer to see what was needed to allow them to flow with the storyline. This I felt is an important part to the opening and knowing this I will need to think carefully about what I need to include and exclude from the shot to put across the correct plot to the viewer.
Using the different shot distances help to create a better understanding of the location and allows the viewer to known what is happening. Then using close ups helps them to connect with the character. The distances of the shot is important and I found that they used a variation of different distances which allowed the audience to get a better understanding to what is going to happening. This means that I need to think about the different shots types I use when filming.
From watching the opening you know what the theme for the film is and what was included in the film fits in with this. This is done through the way in which they use mise-en-scene. I found that the lighting used stood out the most from these elements. You can tell from the film that mise-en-scene was something that the group gave a lot of time to and is something that I need to think about clearly when filming and setting up of my film.
The editing used clearly puts over the meaning of the film to the audience. This was done by the use of transition and the way in which the editing followed to create the right atmosphere. When doing the preliminary task I found that my editing was a weak point and when I come to edit I need to take care as it is an important part which can be seen by this example. The way in which they put in the titles fit in with the genre and did not break away from the action. This I found was effective and I hope to put in my titles in a similar way.

Relating this to your ideas so far for you product.
From watching this video it helped me think about my idea and the way in which I could change it to fit in with what I need to do to achieve a level 4 looking at the ways in which I could improve it. Looking at the opening I realised what elements I need to think about more carefully such as the mise-en-scene and the titles. Knowing these and knowing what I need to think about for my product will help me to create a better product.
